BMDW Search & Match Service

BMDW Search & Match Services provides a fast preliminary search facility to find the best matched haematopoietic stem cell donor or cord blood unit in the world for a patient in need of a haematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide  (BMDW) is a voluntary collaborative effort of stem cell donor registries and cord blood banks whose goal is to provide centralised information on the HLA phenotypes and other relevant data of unrelated stem cell donors and cord blood units and to make this information easily accessible to search coordinators from registries and to the physicians of patients in need of a hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

If you are looking for an unrelated stem cell donor the BMDW website provides you information in which country stem cell donor registries and cord blood banks are active. You can contact the local registry and ask them to start up a search for an unrelated donor.

The BMDW public space contains two manuals: the user guide for the BMDW matching programmes and the data submission guidelines. This space also includes forms to request authorisation for the BMDW matching programmes (in case your registry is not a WMDA member or if no national registry is available in your country) and to become a listing organisation. More information about requesting authorisation and requirements for listing organisation can be found on the BMDW website.
