WMDA works on a broad scope of issues related to the clinical use of donor blood stem cells. The WMDA members have specific expertise in donor care, stem cell transplantation, immunology, HLA, blood stem cell donation, donor recruitment, and other related fields. World Marrow Donor Day competition

We would like to call upon all registries and/or cord blood banks to participate in the celebration of World Marrow Donor Day (WMDD) on the 19th of September this year.
The organisation with the best idea how to celebrate and thank 25 million donors worldwide will win an opportunity to speak at the IDRC in Singapore during the Social Media Session to explain how they organised their event.
You can enter the competition by sending an email to the WMDA office announcing your plans for the World Marrow Donor Day.
The entries will be judged by the organisers of the IDRC.

Team Margot

Team Margot offered to create awareness about stem cell donation and being a stem cell donor. The registration process and joining requirements differ for each country and Team Margot is working with many organisations around the world to try and make the registration process as simple as possible for those wishing to register. Thank you to all the registries who responded to our letter. Team Margot has set upthis page as a result.
WMDA has developed a new programme: 'Search Coordinator Certificate Programme'

Professionals involved in unrelated adult donor/cord blood unit search and selection are essential in the process to find the best donor for a patient. To standardise the level of expertise of staff performing searches and providing recommendations on graft selection, the WMDA has developed a global education programme: 'Search Coordinator Certificate Programme'. This is a 9 months academic year programme in English, consisting of academic E-learning lectures on scientific and practical topics relevant to search coordinators, followed by an exam and formal WMDA certificate. World Marrow Donor Day 2015

We are happy to announce that beginning in 2015, we will celebrate annually World Marrow Donor Day (WMDD) on the third Saturday of September. This day will honor all volunteer unrelated stem cell, marrow and cord blood unit donors around the world. This year's celebration will be on September 19th globally. We would like to ask you to mark the date in your calendar and engage with us to make this celebration a huge success. This year the theme of the day will be the achievement of 25 million donors being listed as potential volunteer marrow donors in Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide (BMDW). #25millionthanks #WMDD
