Re: Ezer Mizion Registry Statement
Due to the current security situation in Israel, we would like to notify registries and their affiliated centres awaiting pending stem cell donations from the Ezer Mizion Donor Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
Israel is embarking on a long and difficult war in the next few weeks after an unprecedented attack from Gaza. We anticipate that many of our donors will not be available in the coming weeks due to massive recruitment of soldiers and reserve forces, and accessibility issues. Furthered more, at the moment, many airline companies cancelled their regular flights. Therefore, we request the following:
- For ongoing and future work-ups, the transplant centre should cryopreserve all products. Cryopreservation has been approved by our Medical Director until further notice.
- Make sure you have back-up donors for your patients in case work-ups must be cancelled at the last moment.
- Please check with your courier companies the flight status and courier availability as close as possible to the transport timelines.
We would like emphasize that Ezer Mizion Bone Marrow Donor Registry is operating as routinely as possible under these difficult circumstances. However due to the uncertainty of the situation we will perform risk assessment on every ongoing and new work-up request according to the availability of the donors. Our coordinators will maintain ongoing updates on each case.
We remain committed to do our utmost to provide donations in these unfortunate times.
